Costa Rica – A Tropical Paradise
Costa Rica is a destination with many faces. Some consider it an adventure-seeker’s paradise (and it is!), while others think of it as an exotic and lush beach vacation (it’s that too!). The fact is that no matter what you are seeking, Costa Rica may very well be the perfect spot for your next getaway.
Costa Rica has a wonderful climate no matter what time of year you visit. They have 2 seasons: Dry season and Rainy (aka “green”) season, but the temperatures are warm year round. Costa Rica bursts into life in the rainy season, so don’t let the possibility of rain deter you. If you’d like to fully appreciate the vast bio-diversity that this country offers, rainy season is the perfect time to visit.
There are many climate zones in Costa Rica – everything from towering volcanoes and cool cloud forests to sun-drenched tropical beaches. Be sure to pack according to the weather in the zone(s) that you’ll be visiting. Better yet, plan your trip to move among 2 or 3 different zones to get a flavor for all that Costa Rica offers. Start at the volcanoes, make a stop at the cloud forest, and finish your trip at the beach.
For adventure travelers, it’s hard to beat the excitement that Costa Rica offers. You can take a canopy tour (zip-line), horseback ride, hike, visit the hanging bridges, soak in a hot-spring, take a mud bath, and splash in a waterfall – all in one day! There’s also white water rafting, rappelling, kite surfing, kayaking, diving, and just about any other form of excitement that you can dream up. Seize the opportunity to try something new!
For romance travelers and beach lovers, there are plenty of gorgeous beachfront resorts with fantastic spas and delicious food. Go ahead and relax and just soak in some sun and pampering. A day out on the ocean sailing and taking in the scenery is always enjoyable!
Nature lovers will be amazed by the vast array of plants and animals that can be found here. The country is teeming with life! The sheer number of birds, butterflies, insects, and plants is astounding. Be sure to take a nature tour or hike with a trained biologist or naturalist. Otherwise, you may walk by some of the most intriguing species without even noticing!
The people of Costa Rica are justifiably proud of their beautiful country and take pride in sharing it with visitors. Many speak at least a little English, but some basic Spanish will come in handy – especially when out in the countryside.
